A trip to Romney Marsh Wools where I’m met by Kristina Boulden and a few hundred sheep on a drizzly day just past the Royal Military Canal on the Marsh. Six generations of family have farmed the Romney here and the flock now boasts 1,000 ewes! What a great idea to take the wool and have it made into woollen goods – Kentish Stores stock the soft and warm unisex scarves . plus, they have taken the lanolin from the wool and turned it into a clean, natural soap. If you like natural, fresh, creamy soap without the flowery fragrance, this is for you. The range has been extended to include shampoo and hand and body lotions – all with that natural lanolin from the Romney sheep. I left with a real sense of excitement about what Romney Marsh Wools are doing – diversifying into beauty and wool products whilst making the most of the lanolin and wool which those kind sheep provide year after year! nigel@kentishstores.co.uk
